Project Scope: Illustration | Typography | Poster Design

Project Duration: April 24–May 9, 2023

Tools Used:  Photoshop | Illustrator | Lightroom

Project Objective

This project focused on creating a poster inspired by the Obi-Wan Kenobi series, using illustration and atmosphere to capture the show’s emotional tone. The goal was to design a cinematic composition that communicates isolation, memory, and conflict while embedding subtle references for dedicated fans. By rewatching the full series and taking detailed notes, I gathered visual cues and moments to integrate as easter eggs throughout the final design.

Design Strategy

I began the project without a predetermined layout, letting experimentation guide the visual direction. The composition gradually formed through iterative sketching, color testing, and environmental building, eventually centering on a lone figure crossing a desert at dusk. As I refined lighting, shadows, and terrain, I wove in small narrative details pulled from my research notes. This intuitive process resulted in a poster that balances mood, storytelling, and layered references for viewers who know the series well.

What I learned

I learned how to build a poster from a place of uncertainty—starting with no clear vision and spending a week exploring ideas before finding direction. I eventually focused on integrating key elements from the show into a single design that worked both as communication and as fan appreciation. The background references specific episodes, including the first and fourth, creating a subtle layer of meaning for viewers who recognize the details.
